Royal Holloway's Festival of History Returns

Sunday 9th June 2019, 10.30 - 4.30

This Year's Highlights

Quad with biplane
Picture Gallery

Join us for a free day of historical re-enactment, family-friendly activities, talks and performances set against the backdrop of our Founder's Building.

This year visit historic encampments from the time of the Napoleonic, First and Second World Wars; get up close to a First World War biplane and Spitfire; and watch displays from the Sussex Yeomanry Cavalry and Sgt. Garrett and his working dog Gaia.

You will also have the chance to watch compelling plays about the First World War and Henry VIII performed by Time Will Tell and children can take part in one of our 'Spiked by a Pike' children's drills or have arts and crafts fun in the Picture Gallery.

This year we are also pleased to welcome Dr Miranda Kaufmann to speak about her bestselling book Black Tudors and Dr Nicola Stacey, Director of the Heritage of London Trust delivering this year's Magna Carta lecture.

There will also be a range of food and drink options available throughout the day.

This is the last in the current series of Festivals of History, generously supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
